People are getting crazy about them these days. The night was absolutely fantastic! The macarons brought an entirely new experience into my life and tingled my taste buds in multiple variations. Oh, how I love to try something new and amazing! John and I literally fought for the last one; it was the lemony yellow macaron, one of my favorites because I worship the mild savor taste of lemon in sweets.

If done right, it can make unique and splendid sensations in your mouth. Later I discussed with her and ordered some more from the local pastry shop. This is a very valid question because macarons can be so finicky that it's safer to make them ahead of time for a special event, saving time and lowering anxiety. This is especially important if you are making macarons in your home baking business.

Although many home bakers would agree that it's probably easier to prepare a cake for a special event, macarons have their own special advantage too. They don't need to be made on the same day as they are served. Macarons can be made ahead of time and refrigerated or frozen in advance of an event without compromising its freshness or quality. Macaron shells can stay frozen for up to one month without affecting the freshness or quality. The quality starts to decline a bit after that with reduction in flavor intensity, slight changes in flavor profile and freezer burn etc. The one month mark is a good place to start for a best before date and some sources vouch for storing macarons in the freezer for up to 3 months.

For fully assembled macarons, the length of time will fall within these parameters depending on the filling that is used. How the macaron is stored will also affect its longevity. Macarons stay nice and fresh in the fridge or in the freezer when stored in air-tight containers.

They can usually be stacked one on top of another in the container. Macarons last for 7 days at ambient temperature and for up to 7 weeks in the fridge, so they do have quite a good shelf life. Again, if you are putting them in the fridge, we would suggest that you keep them in their plastic container again to keep the air out.

No matter what flavour, filling or colour of macaroons, you can store them in the same way to ensure that they stay fresh.

Once your macarons have been delivered, if you eat them straight away, then you can ignore all of this advice! However, if you only eat a few and want to save some for later, or you are using them at a later date, you may want to know how to store them. However most macarons only last at 7 days when you are keeping them at ambient temperature. If you are keeping them or planning to use them much further away than the original date of delivery, your other option is to keep them in the fridge.

Macarons last for 7 weeks in the fridge when kept in their plastic casing. When left at room temperature, Macarons tend to spoil quickly due to high temperatures, which favor the growth and development of microorganisms.

However, when refrigerated, the growth and development of microorganism are reduced significantly hence extending the shelf life of your Macarons. When frozen, the shelf life of macarons is extended to six months due to the availability of unfavorable conditions for microorganisms to thrive.

Before storing your macarons, it is advisable to let them cool. This will prevent the macaron from losing its crispy texture and the shell from cracking. Once cooled, fill the shell with fruit jam, ganache, cream cheese , and fondue, among other ingredients. Once you through with preparing your macaron, you should store them in an airtight container; this will help reduce moisture content and extend its shelf life.
